I found it very touching and I think the nerdfighters should see it :)

It’s a song the Youtuber Troye Sivan wrote after he read TFIOS and it is very nicely done (well in my opinion ^^)

DFTBA Renée

If y’all haven’t heard Troye’s TFIOS song yet, you are truly missing out.

Updated release dates for The Fault in Our Stars movie around the world from the movie’s official facebook page.
That so many of these are now on or near June 6th is really a testament to the power of nerdfighteria, especially Brazilian and Mexican nerdfighters who were very well organized and persistent (but polite!) about moving the opening forward. THANK YOU.

TFiOS Visual Development, Part 2: Hazel and Gus wardrobe design

Okay, so I know I was supposed to be drawing Hazel-Gus interactions, but I really wanted to work with my Wacom after working with pencil and paper for several days, so I worked on the wardrobe design instead, inspired by Brittney Lee’s work on Frozen.

Commentary for images 1 and 2: For Hazel, from left to right, top to bottom row:

1. The yellow shirt and saggy jeans she wears to Support Group at the beginning,

2. Her Special Yellow Dress,

3. The outfit she wears on the plane to Amsterdam,

4. The dress she wears to Oranjee. I designed the print to resemble ocean waves to tie back to the metaphor of water,

5. The outfit she wears to Van Houten’s,

6. The funeral dress. Note that the silhouette is similar to that of the dress she wore to Oranjee to underscore the stark contrast of emotions between the two events. Note also that the funeral dress has a subdued water motif, but while the Oranjee dress has calmer waves, the funeral dress is a tempest,

7. The final outfit I imagine she wears when she receives Gus’s letter to Van Houten.

For Gus:

1. The outfit he wears to Support Group,

2. The outfit he wears to the picnic at the Funky Bones,

3. The outfit he wears to meet Hazel at the swing set,

4. The outfit he wears on the plane to Amsterdam,

5. The death suit he wears to Oranjee,

6. The outfit he wears to Van Houten’s,

7. The outfit he wears to the egging.

Realise how I designed Hazel’s outfits so they start out with dull and sallow colors but get brighter as the film progresses, with the exception of her funeral dress, while Gus’s outfits start out with healthy, bright colors but get more lifeless over the course of the film. This is to reflect and contrast their physical conditions: Gus becomes sicker, so the colors of his clothes reflect that. While Hazel does not really get better, the shift to brighter colors serve to underscore the difference in their physical conditions. The lower two images are close-ups of their Oranjee outfits. I have this headcanon that since Hazel is just wearing a thin sundress, it would be a perfect opportunity for Gus to offer her his jacket, which, knowing him, he’d probably do with a great flourish. I’m also particularly satisfied with the way the third image turned out, since I think I captured their respective personalities pretty well.

The next and final semester of my degree course will be starting tomorrow, so wish me luck! I may not be able to post the next update as soon as I’d like, but I’ll do my best. Again, constructive comments and critiques are welcome.

P.S. I received feedback saying that Hazel’s figure was too slim in the model sheets, so I’ve tried giving her a less idealized figure. Also, Hazel’s oxygen tank is omitted from all images for simplicity.
