Going oldschool Vlogbrothers for this design.
Inspired by this video from 2009.
'Oh wait, you probably meant, “How can I tell when my boyfriend's gonna propose?” Mm? See why spelling matters?’
John Green is just amazing.

Who Owns DFTBA? An Introduction to Trademarks

In which John discusses the increasingly widespread use by large corporations of the phrases “DFTBA” and “Don’t forget to be awesome,” and discusses why even though we COULD stop those uses by trademarking nerdfighter slogans, we aren’t going to.

The graph above represents the sales results of the 12 Days of Pizzamas. I won’t get specific about numbers, but check that out… some of you guys are going to have some relatively rare Pizza John Frisbees.
Some interesting facts:
- More than 50% of Pizzamas sales came from the top 3 products, and 75% of Pizzamas sales came from the top 5 products. This is not totally surprising given the Pareto principle.
- Half of all orders that included a Pizzamas item, included more than one item (not always another Pizzamas item, but simply another DFTBA item). As I’ve mentioned here before, promotions by our bigger artists are good for the sales of our smaller artists.
- In just twelve days, the Pizza John mug outsold any other mug DFTBA has offered in the past, ever. This is incredible given the fact that we’ve had to reprint the "Everyone Deserves Tea" mug half a dozen times given its strong sales. This tells me limited edition items work.
- Price doesn’t seem to affect sales. The hoodie and the blanket, the two most expensive Pizzamas items, were both in the top 5, with the hoodie being the second highest selling Pizzamas item. I’ve been hesitant in the past about selling more luxury items like these as I worry high price tags will be a turn off, but maybe not? We’ve looked into footie pajamas, limited edition hard cover books, etc, but the manufacturing costs are always such that we’d have to charge premium prices on these items for them to make sense. Maybe I should be less hesitant…
All of the limited edition Pizzamas items are now in the manufacturing stage and should start shipping out the first week of December.
If you missed out on the 12 Days of Pizzamas sale, you can follow DFTBA Record’s tumblr, or my tumblr, as the sale was posted about each and every day of the 12 Days of Pizzamas, and that will ensure you won’t miss future limited edition/limited time promotions. You can also head over to DFTBA.com now and check out some of the other new things we have available in time for the holidays, including the new Crash Course Complete Series DVD box sets, new hoodies from DFTBA and Charles Trippy and the HPA, and tons of other awesome stuff.
Merry Pizzamas!
