On Saturday we had a successful kick-off to our Esther Day campaign, Random Acts of Kindness.  We met in Boston Common to ‘share the happy’ by handing out flowers and chalk.  Overall we had a lot of fun talking to people and making them smile.  Hopefully we inspired people to pay it forward.
While some people were really excited to accept a flower, there were quite a few people who were skeptical of us.  People would speed up, avert their eyes, say no before we even had a chance to ask if they’d like a flower or explain that they were free.  It was these reactions that made the others extra special. There were plenty of people who were really excited to receive a flower, and we found that kids were super happy to get a free piece of chalk.  We met people who loved flowers, people who wanted to pay it forward, and people who thought handing out flowers in the Common was ‘like the coolest idea ever’.When we gave out a lot of chalk, as is inevitable, there were a lot of broken pieces.  We used them to write words of encouragement around the sidewalks.  It was nice to see people pause, read the words we had written, and react.  Walking around we liked seeing what kids had drawn with the chalk we gave them and overhearing people tell others about receiving flowers.  It has also been really nice to see our words pop up on social media by people who just stumbled upon them.  To know that we have indeed made a difference in someone’s day has been totally awesome. If you have any pictures of flowers or our chalk drawings we’d love to see them.  The best way to make sure they get to us is to use the #nshpaestherday
We will continue doing random acts of kindness over the next month. Keep an eye out for more updates and events!
If you have your own story of a random act of kindness we want to hear about that.  Use the same hashtag as above and lets share the happy!

Nerdfighters gathering in Provo, UT to put nice notes on strangers’ cars!

IRL nerdfighter shenanigans make us so happy and we’d love to feature them more often. If your group would like to contribute, you can tag pictures and the like with #nerdfighter gathering or submit them (preferably with some sweet deets about your adventures!).

If you don’t know of any nerdfighters in your area, check out our ever-growing list of nerdfighter facebook groups! And if you don’t use facebook, there’s always lots of local nerdfighter activity to be found in Our Pants.

Spread the word, Nerdfighters!

Your footage could be in a documentary! How cool is that?

This past weekend was rife with nerdfighter gatherings!

Nerdfighters hanging out together IRL! What could be better?

We’d like to start a new monthly feature spotlighting recent nerdfighter meetup activities; if you’d like pictures of your group to be included, please tag them with #nerdfighter gathering or submit them (and tell us about the specifics of your escapades)!

Also, make sure to check out your area’s nerdfighter group on facebook if you haven’t already done so. If one doesn’t exist, make it! And if you don’t have facebook, there is lots of local nerdfighter activity going on in Our Pants.
