John Green’s “Top Five Movies I Enjoy Watching”

(a list that can be found in this FIFA video)

5. The Sting - “The great con man grifter movie … I love The Sting because it’s funny but it also has a lot to say, a fair bit of social commentary, and it’s a really smart movie.”
4. The Dark Knight - “It’s dark; it’s moody; it has that Maggie Gyllenhaal who, um, you know, I’m fond of. I think she’s… she’s a nice lady.”
3. The Godfather/The Godfather Part II - “Just so brilliant, everything about them, just perfect. The family stuff, the political stuff, the crime stuff, the American Dream stuff, I mean this is the real nature of the American Dream, right? Is that you never don’t get your hands dirty.”
3. The 2005 Champions League Final - “I know the 2005 Champions League Final isn’t technically a movie, but I do own it on DVD and watch it multiple times a year, so it’s kind of a movie.”
2. Harvey - “It’s one of the most quotable movies of all time. The main character is named Elwood Dowd, and at one point, he says ‘My mother told me that in this world, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant. Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant.’”
1. Rushmore - “I’m a little bit distrustful of people who don’t love that movie, and I know there are a lot of them. People who find it precious or twee or whatever; I just don’t agree.”
