We’re taking the most magical book swap on earth to VidCon. Stop by our booth with a book you want to share (maybe throw in a few Nerdfighter notes for good measure) and take home a new book from someone else. Need more convincing? Check out our Apparating Library in action at LeakyCon London.

THINGS TO DO!!! Reblog and share this post!!!

Bring a book to VidCon, give it to HPA peeps, take home a brand new (to you) book!

Spring is in the air (in some parts of the world…), and that can only mean one thing: It’s time for Accio Books!Over the years, our annual book drive has built libraries in Rwanda, the Mississippi Delta, and New York City. Members like you have collectively donated over 100,000 books. This year, we are thrilled to announce that our primary donation recipient will be the Brightmoor Community Center in Detroit, Michigan. All of the books collected during the drive will be catalogued by our University of Michigan chapter, The Whomping Wolverines, and in September they will be given away for free to members of the Brightmoor community during an appearance of our Apparating Library at Brightmoor’s annual Back To School Rally. You also have the option to donate locally or join up with your local chapter to see where they’re donating this year. No matter how or where you donate books, be sure to log them for points in our annual House Cup.

Will Ravenclaw win again? Will we beat our record of 30,000 book donations from last year? Will Tom Hiddleston hear about our campaign and personally donate one thousand books?
THE GAME, DEAR WIZARDS, IS ON!

Nerdfighters! You only have until the end of May to collect donations for Accio Books, so get on it! If you’ve already collected books, make sure you report your book donations to the HPA so that they can get an accurate count of how many books have been donated and because HOUSE CUP COMPETITION!

Hola Nerdfighters!!
I think it’s time we started celebrating the intellectual awesomeness of Nerdfighteria by reviewing books and recommending books to each other.
We would love to publish your reviews/thoughts/ratings/recommendations on anything that you’re reading! It doesn’t have to be YA, it doesn’t have to be a John Green recommendation (though we do love those :)). It can be anything under the sun.
So follow us, let us know what you’re reading and submit a review! :)
DFTBA!

Hey nerds! Have some books lying around that could use a better home? Want to get together with other nerdfighters and make a positive impact on your community? Wanna be real cool?
If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, why not collect books to donate either locally or to the HPA’s Apparating Library in Detroit?
More info will be coming shortly on how nerdfighters can join magical forces with the HPA for good during this drive, but for now, get talking in your local nerdfighter groups and brainstorm up some ways that you can work together to collect books to donate, either as a collective, or as part of an HPA chapter, if there’s one near you.
Hooray!

For today’s video, I thought I’d share with you 18 books I love that you probably haven’t read. Each of these books has stuck with me over the years. I hope you’ll include in comments a book you loved that hasn’t found as broad an audience as you think it deserves. I’m going to read 18 of those and review them in a future vlogbrothers video.

Celebrate the life of Esther Grace Earl on February 1, 2014.
As many of you know, This Star Won’t Go Out: The Life and Words of Esther Grace Earl, a collection of journals, fiction, letters, photographs and sketches by Esther Earl, who passed away in 2010, is being released on on January 28, 2014. On February 1, 2014 at 7:00 PM, the Earl family will be honoring the release of Esther’s book with an awesome, multi-media event featuring presentations by family and friends, as well as performances by Wizard Rock bands. Come join the Earls and Esther’s friends as they pay tribute to Esther’s life and work!
This is a special, one-time event hosted by Wellesley Books in Massachusetts at an off-site location and will therefore be ticketed. Tickets cost $25 and include a copy of This Star Won’t Go Out; ticket holders will also have the option of purchasing one additional guest ticket for $5. Tickets are available for purchase starting TODAY through Wellesley Books’ website or by calling (781) 431-1160.
The event will be taking place outside of Boston at Wilson Middle School in Natick, Massachusetts. More information about the event can be found here. Hope to see you there!

Many of our contributors will be at this event and we’d love to see you there!
