No Words, Only Miracle

yourfaceisprettyhot:

A few years ago, if someone had told me that because of one man, my life would be changed, I wouldn’t have believed them. Or maybe I would have. I’m very indecisive. My story is bizarre, and magical, and seemingly impossible.

It began three years ago with a book. I was browsing the teen section of my local Barnes and Nobles for a birthday gift for my lovely sister. I was looking over the highly recommended books, and among Twilight and other stupid vampire books, one caught my eye. An Abundance of Katherines had an interesting title and I will admit, an interesting cover, and even more on point, my sister is conveniently named Katherine. I picked it up and bought it without even another glance.

When I was leaving the bookstore, heading back to my college campus, I received a tearful phone call from my mother, who informed me my father was dying. He needed bone marrow, and he needed it quickly. My sister and I were not good enough matches, and the rest of my father’s family was deceased. I was shocked, and without thinking, I pulled the book from the bag and hurled it into the street to release my anger. A guy rushed forward and picked it up.

“Woah, woah, wait! This is a good one! What did it do to you?!” he said, and held it out to me. “I’m Finn.” He gave me his number and asked if I was okay. I was dazed, but I just nodded. He proposed that I should read An Abundance of Katherines, and, when I finished it, we could discuss it over coffee. I could only nod again, and for that brief moment, I forgot my problems.

I finished An Abundance of Katherines in a matter of hours, and the next day I met Finn at a small coffee shop. He gave my a tiny clay giant squid of anger and welcomed me to Nerdfighteria. I saw more and more of him as the weeks passed, and we began to fall in nerdfighterlike. After six months, I introduced him to my parents, and, though my dad was so sick, they hit it off immediately.

One night, my mother called me and told my that my father had signed a DNR. He didn’t feel as if he could go on with his pain. Finn held me and proposed one of his impossible ideas: he would see if he was a donor match. I was beside myself, and told him not to. He left without another word.

The next few days were very painful until my sister called from the hospital in (happy) tears.

“Finn…. is…. a match!” Kath screamed with excitement. I put aside my annoyance and drove to the hospital.

I will leave you with this: My father lived. Finn proposed, and our twin girls are due in two months. Looking back, everything seems so impossible, and  I can hardly believe. John Green, thank you. You have saved everything important to me, with one book. Nerdfighteria is amazing.

If you want to contact me, just comment. I will have you know this is not my tumblr, it is a friends, but maybe I’ll post pictures of our daughters anyway. Thank you for reading.
